Easter Weekend Festivities

This past weekend, we celebrated Easter here in L.A. and with my family back in Palm Springs. The weekend before, we took photos with the Easter bunny: [gallery ids="7223,7224,7225" type="rectangular"] (I told you I wasn't wearing black this time.) First, Bear went on a field trip with his classmates (with Daddy supervising) to Audubon Center. Bear was rather impressed with a hut while he learned about different birds and plants. Our trip to Skyspace!

Over the weekend (and as part of my birthday celebration), we all went to Skyspace. It's a new hip viewing place in DTLA. It's also the place that boasts the clear glass slide. I didn't go on the slide (because I'm terrified of heights) but after seeing several people do it, I'm determined to do it next time. YOLO, right? Here are pics from our adventures! Kids under 3 are free.

If I Could Turn Back The Hands of Time

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsKbwR7WXN4&w=420&h=315] By the way, I really don't like that song but damnit, it's catchy! (And yoooo....Cher was a bad bitch back in the day!) I apologize for the lack of posts. I haven't been on vacation, nor have I been unusually busy. I'll be honest - I've been lazy. Queen Lazy. Lazy rules everything around me, lazy. Mayor of Lazyville. But I'm back and with news...are you ready? Are you sure you're

The Awesome Reasons Why I'm All For Extended Breastfeeding

[caption id="attachment_1229" align="alignnone" width="1080"] Yes, that's us! [/caption] It wasn't until I actually became a mother when I realized how breastfeeding is kinda looked down upon. It was a shock. Throughout pregnancy I kept hearing how breast was best and even the first few months of Bear's life, that's all I heard. And then a funny thing happened - he turned 1. Then he turned 2. And as we're more than halfway

An update of sorts…

I'm so sorry for the lack of posts here. With the past holiday weekend and what have you, I just haven't had any time! But now I do, so let's get busy - Just a friendly reminder - I am speaking at the MixedRemixed Festival this year! I'll be speaking on the panel regarding Parenting with Difference: Multiracial and Families of Transracial Adoption in Conversation. So, if you're in the L.A. area,

All About the Bear!

It's a been while since I've done a post on just Bear and nothing but so here it goes! Weight: Around 25 lbs. Since we switched to a new insurance, I haven't been able to get him to his pedi yet, but soon. Height: A little over 3 feet (3'3 to be exact). Yeah, he's a tall kid. Likes: House music. Thomas the Train. Super Why. Curious George. Dinosaur Train. My homemade

#ThrowbackThursday: First Dodgers game

So technically, this was actually our first Dodgers game with Bear. We've gone to many as we live not that far from Dodgers stadium. I just did the big chop so that's why my hair is super short (I love the length of my hair now but man, having the big chop was sooooo convenient for a while! Wash and goooooo!) Standard family pic. Our visit to the Special Olympics!

Over the weekend, we went to the Special Olympics here in L.A. I've never been to any Olympic-type of event so this was pretty rad. All of the events were free and were held in different places in L.A, namely USC, the Convention Center, and UCLA. Since we were closer to the Convention Center, we went there. We watched one sport - handball - and I checked out the awards

Bring Da’ Ruckus

http://youtu.be/cbfGkiecl2M I have a love-hate relationship with my in-laws. Come to think of it, I have a love-hate relationship with both families - mine and M's. There are a lot of things that occur with both families I have an issue with that no matter how much I voice my displeasure, it seems: 1) No one cares; or 2) People care but not nearly to the point where they actually
