I’m so 2008-late on this post, but I have to tell you guys about our wonderful time at the El Capital theatre!

Despite living in L.A. for the past decade-plus, I’ve never been to the theatre! When a few of my girlfriends offered the opportunity to go, I said why not? We were going to see the Haunted Mansion (great movie, btw, and the movie did the ride a lot of justice) and Bear would’ve been with his friends.

I mean, it’s a one-two combo that can’t be beat?

Disney owns El Capitan so they show a lot of Disney movies in the theatre. Of course, they show other movies. It’s a small-ish movie theatre and I think they only have a few theatres actually inside. But man, they go all the way out when they do show movies! Check it out!

The design they have for the theatre is so amazing. They had an actual organ player to set up the mood for the Haunted Mansion. Like, it couldn’t get any better than this?!

And then the ambiance of the theatre. I’m sure they do different themes for each Disney movie (I can’t say if they do the same themes for non-Disney films). When the film was about to start, they had a screensaver-like showcase before the premiere. Like, my pictures really don’t do it justice:

As far as the movie, I personally enjoyed it. It’s gotten so-so reviews but I liked it and felt it was rather touching. It wasn’t too scary for the kids and had important themes for everyone. LaKeith Stansfield was absolutely amazing in the film, but I’m a bit partial since he’s also one of my favorite actors. Tiffany Haddish was also a great comedic relief in her role. Go check it out!

And of course, Bear and I couldn’t leave without taking a pic of us on a ride like the one they have at Disneyland:

Don’t mind, Bear; he’s at that age where he’s making faces instead of smiling in pictures, LOL.

So, how much did it cost? It was a little pricey, I’ll admit: For the two of us, including popcorn and a drink, it ran about $60. So, it’s a splurge, for sure. But it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I highly recommend it!
