So, it’s been raining pretty hard in L.A. this past week. Really hard. Hard as in we actually got snow in Pasadena. Yeah, for real. We. Got. Snow. Annnnnnnnnd I was snowed on!

When it rains super hard, it puts the kibbutz on anything fun. And if you need to run errands, unless something has to get done that day, it’s just gonna have to wait.

As I was trying to figure out how much more screen time Bear truly needs in his life, I decided there has to be other fun things we can do in the meantime. And what do you know? I decided to make a list to share with all of you! LFG!!!

Watch a movie together

Is there a movie you had your eye and never had time to watch it? Now’s a good time!

Do (safe) indoor science experiments.

Bear and I constantly do science experiments inside and he always have a blast. Plus, it’s a good way to get him away from his iPad for a bit!

Online shopping (be careful with this one, tho!)

I love Etsy and it’s one of my favorite sites to go explore and support small-business owners.

Read.

I’m a writer so I love to read and sometimes, life gets in the way of playing catch up with all of my reading.

Bake cookies.

Cookies tend not to last long in this house! We’re always baking!

Make slime

It’s actually super easy to make, and it won’t take hardly any time at all! It’s also a surprising stress relief.

Play board games

I’m sure some board games are collecting dust right now!

Clean and organize the home.

This is a great time to finally get some deep cleaning done and find homes for things that need to be out of your sight.

Paint with watercolor paints.

We all love to paint and I’ll be the first to admit that Maks and Bear are better painters than me.

Tell a story

I’m a writer/storyteller so I always encourage Bear to tell me a story and make it a good one. He’s come up with some gems!

Play with those toys that kids forget they have.

Bear has too many toys, and he often forgets to play with a lot of them. I always tell him to take a break from his iPad to play with some toys.

Spend (a little) time on social media and play catch up.

I don’t often go on social media like I used to, so I often miss a lot of big moments with people. But when I do have some time, I will limit myself to an hour max.

Play with Legos.

We have built cities, forts, and even garages. You’ll be amazed how creative you’ll be and you don’t have to be a super builder!

imPRESS Falsies Press On Lashes

Make salt dough

This is super fun and super easy to do. It’s also a great stress relief!

Create a YouTube short!

It’s a lot simpler than most people think it is and I’ve gotten the hang of it myself!

Camp out in the living room!

This idea isn’t that new to us. Every Friday, Bear camps out in the living room, though he’s been camping out all week just because his room sometimes gets pretty cold and we prefer he sleeps with us.

Create a pillow/blanket fort!

And what a great way to hide from everyone!

Finger paint.

You’ll be amazed what you’ll come up and how fun this is!

Gather items to donate for later.

There are always items to donate and you can get a head start on spring cleaning.

Workout at home.

YouTube has some wonderful free workouts everyone can do at the comfort of their own home. Did I mention FREE?

Do a home spa day.

You can create your own masks with ingredients right in your refrigerator and pantry. Look up how to give yourself a manicure and pedicure and just pamper yourself!

Write.

Your feelings. A book. Your innermost thoughts. Jot it down.

Tackle the unfinished projects.

Maybe there was a show you started to stream and stopped at episode 4 with the promise you’ll get back to it soon. Or a project you wanted to get done by Christmas and now St. Patty’s day is approaching. Now’s a good time to finish it!

Create a picnic

You can be as creative as you like with this. You can use crackers, cheese, popcorn, sandwiches, or whatever you want and have a nice picnic. Bonus if the kids want to join as well!

Learn a new language

My husband knows three languages fluently so I’m playing catch up with my Ukrainian lessons. I highly recommend downloading Duolingo!

Start a new hobby!

Was there something you wanted to learn but you had no time? Maybe now’s a good time to start!

Donate to a good and legit charity/cause.

It’ll make you feel better and you’ll feel like you did an amazing deed. I highly recommend you thoroughly research the charities you want to donate to first to make sure they’re legit.

Use a coloring book. One for kids and one for adults and have coloring time.

Put on some jazz music or relaxing sounds and just spend a few minutes (at least 20) coloring. It’ll soothe the soul.

Cook something new!

Lizzo’s internet has a plethora of ideas you can scour from. There is always something to try!

Do absolutely nothing and enjoy the rain!

Rain can be very relaxing, and just the sound of it puts people at ease. Just relax and chill.

How do you like to spend rainy weather?
