I’m not gon’ lie: this hasn’t been the best past year.
Between caring for aging and sick parents, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the death of one of my best friends, this hasn’t been the best year. I had a bit of a meltdown, contemplated exactly what I want to be when I grow up, and just was at a weird crossroads. You can say I was in Mercury Retrograde all year, lmao.
However, I always judge how I was from one year to another as I don’t really assess how I was from January to December. Was it my best year? No, not really. It wasn’t the worst year on record, but it damn sure wasn’t my best. it was just there.
I’m not going to waste any more time on the would’ve, should’ve, and could’ve of a year past. I can only look forward to a better year and all the lessons I learned. And I learned a lot.
I learned that it’s okay to grieve, and that grieving often comes in different forms.
I learned sometimes what was a dream of mine may not be so important in the future.
I learned working at my own pace, and not anyone else’s was always the way to go.
I learned that writing is and always will be my first love.
