Product Review – NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

I love NARS. I love NARS. I love NARS. I love NARS. I’m not entirely sure how it was I discovered NARS (I think a Sephora rep gave me their product to try and I was hooked, or at least that’s the urban legend I put together in my head), but it doesn’t matter.

I love NARS. It’s very rare I find a product from them I hate. Well, hate is a strong word. Let’s just say strongly dislike or not as in love with it as I would be. There, that’s better.

But when I find a product that I love?

So, I’ve been on the hunt for a new concealer since I used the hell out of my old one. I wasn’t trying my luck with another brand too quickly (when I’m loyal to a brand, I’m loyal for lyfe!) but I wasn’t sure what I wanted.

Entered NARS. Le sigh. Even just typing the name gives me the warm fuzzies.

So, they had a demo of one of their other concealers and I’m like, heyyy boo….let me put you on ma face.

I decided…hmm…let me try this.

So, it’s pretty small! I mean it’s smaller than a sauce packet at McDonald’s. Pretty small. And pretty expensive – $30.

It’s super creamy! Like, very velvety.

So how does it look?

I give good face.

So let’s go over the review:

  • NARS is a quality brand.
  • Available online and in Sephora.
  • It’s very smooth and covers very well.
  • You don’t have to use an applicator or sponge! You can simply use your fingertips (though, many have sworn on the Beauty Blender…which is the next review!)
  • A little goes a long way. It’ll last you a while.

Now for every good thing, there’s some bad…

  • It’s fucking expensive, yo. There are no two ways about it. $30. I repeat, $30.
  • It’s quite small so unless you absolutely need to carry this on you, keep it at home.

I highly recommend this concealer! It’s my new favorite! So, give it a try! You won’t regret it!

Fall 2016 Nudes and Browns

I finally did a long-awaited nude lip swatch review. I’m still getting used to do makeup reviews on YouTube so bare with me a little as I make adjustments!

Anyway, here it is!

Mixed Chicks’ New Makeup Line Stunned Me Beautiful

Summer is the time I think most women like to experiment with their looks. One, it’s too hot to be doing anything heavy. Second, sun-kissed is the way to go. Let that melanin shine (and if you don’t have a lot of melanin, get your tan on!).

Click on the picture to purchase!

Mixed Chicks recently came out with a makeup line and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed by it.

It’s small so you can easily put it in your pocket.

One end is foundation while the other is bronzer.

So now we see how it is, let’s see how it looks:

As you can tell, it blends in very smooth.

I didn’t mean to look shocked here; I was trying to focus on the makeup.

And the end result:

It blends it very smooth and easily. Now, let’s take a look at the bronzer:

I mostly like to highlight my cheeks and give it that sun-kissed look.

So, let’s review, shall we?

  • Small, and very compact.
  • Goes on smooth.
  • No funny smell. (Actually, no smell at all.)
  • It comes in five shades.
  • It’s cream-based.
  • A little goes a long way.

  • It’s cream-based so that might be a concern for those who don’t use cream foundations or bronzers.
  • Pricey. While I got this one at a discount, it retails for $22.
  • It comes in five shades. If you’re in between shades, you might either have to buy one lighter and one darker to blend or go to the darker shade.

All in all, I do recommend Mixed Chicks foundation and bronzer!

NYX’s Black Cherry Tart is full of YASSSSSS!

Let me start this review by stating something that may not be important to you, but it is to me. I have a milk chocolate skin tone. That means I either match or am close to a Hershey bar (I use to match it but now I’m a tad bit lighter than it). I also have gold undertones. That being said, sometimes makeup and/or hairstyles that would look amazing on other people with pale or very dark skin would look kinda blah on me. When it comes to dark makeup, it’s a touch and go.

Do you know how frustrating to see someone rock a shade you want? I get all up in my feels sometimes.

I’ve been trying to find the elusive Transylvania shade by NYX while I was in ULTA recently. Of course, it was sold out since it’s a very popular shade (If you find it, you’re one lucky bih).

I didn’t want to leave with just nothing since I went out of my way to go to ULTA to begin with. Overwhelmed with a plethora of choices, I decided to go bold for once and try something that took me out of my comfort zone.

Enter the Black Cherry Tart.

It’s dark. It’s a deep burgundy. It’s a tad dangerous and vampy. Me likey.

I’m not a fan of the actual application stick. Maybe I got a bad one, but it was just not as smooth as the other ones I have. But that’s beside the point. Here’s me, giving good face:

So it goes on smooth (beside the applicator stick) and it stays put. It’s thick. It’s not sticky nor does it smell and most importantly, it doesn’t bleed on my teeth.

The transformation within my spirit, though…I felt like this on the way home:

And a bit of this…

And maybe a little bit of this:

(I think we all have a little Bey and Rih within us. This is a pro-Bey and Rih zone so keep your Anti-Bey and Rih bullshit on silent. Please and thank you.)

Now I’m not sure if NYX will have the same effect on you but hell, give it a try. They have so many shades. I mean so many that there’s a shade for everybody, every skin tone, every type. More NYX lip color reviews to come in the future!
