This year, Bear turned 10 and that's a pretty big milestone. We wanted to do it big for his birthday this year and give him what he wanted. But we also wanted to make it under budget. I need to break this down by item to give everyone an idea on how we did it.

Tomorrow is my birthday and every year, the day before it I take a moment to reflect on what I've achieved the year before.
While most people celebrate the new year on January 1st, I always celebrate the new year on my birthday. I feel birthdays are a better measurement of progress (and sometimes, recession) than January 1st.

Every year, I always treat the day before my birthday as a New Year's Eve and my birthday as, well, New Year's Day. You know how everyone treats January 1st as the start-over and start afresh? New year, new me, type of deal?
I do that with my birthday.

Over the weekend, we surprised Bear with an early birthday gift by treating him to see his favorite homie, Thomas, and his second-favorite, Percy. (He loves Gordon, too, but he wasn't there.)
