I love candles. I try not to be a collector of any sorts as I do use the candles I own. But, I always feel you can never have enough candles. And sometimes, you’ll be in a mood to burn a certain scent. I don’t believe one candle fits all. You need at least three. Maybe four.
So, with so many flippin’ candles to choose from, it’s hard to figure out what’s really you. I recommend this – unless you are certain about a scent, it’s best to go in store to sniff it out. It might sound great online and it might be a whole different vibe in person.
If it’s impossible to get to a physical store, read the reviews. Pay attention to the throw (how strong it is), the scent, and most importantly – the season. You don’t want something fruity and light when it’s 40 degrees outside (or maybe you do; who am I to judge?)
Here are my personal favorites for candles to fit your aesthetic. I’ll talk cheap ones, expensive ones, kitschy ones, and ones that might become your new fave.
Are you ready? LFG!
Cheap Luxury on a Budget Aesthetic – Threshold
You really can’t go wrong with Threshold from Target. It’s a solid candle brand that is reasonably price and won’t break your bank account. My personal favorite is Aloe + Bergamot candle. It’s nice and crisp, with a touch of ‘this is expensive’ to add a haughty vibe to you.
I Like Nice Things aesthetic – NEST.
I was introduced to NEST candles upon accident as I lurked around bluemercury one day. While I was a little stunned by the full price (a medium-size candle starts at a whopping $48), I decided to treat myself a little with a smaller and more affordable votive at $17. Of course, once you burn through the votive (and the throw is very strong for such a small candle!), you’ll be more inclined to pay a bit more for a longer-lasting candle. My personal favorite is Grapefruit.
Treat Yo’ Self Aesthetic – La Labo
Now, I’ll admit – there isn’t that much price difference between a large NEST candle and a La Labo candle. However, if you’re already spending $80 for a NEST candle, what’s four dollars more for a La Labo?
What I personally love about La Labo is the luxury it represents. While it’s a very expensive candle, it’s a luxury you can smell. It’s something your guests will wonder where you got it from. And honestly, it’ll just make you feel special. And doesn’t want that all the time?
It’s worth the splurge. Get it! My personal favorite is the Palo Santo candle.
The Everyday Candle aesthetic – Bath & Body Works.
This is one of my favorite stores and I can honestly spend a mint in there if I’m not careful. One thing I will forever love about Bath & Body Works is that not only do they have longtime favorites, but they’re constantly introducing new scents for everyone. You really can’t go wrong in this store.
While these three-wick candles are a bit more above being budget-friendly, they are worth the money and honestly, you won’t regret it. Well, maybe. You might regret you didn’t get more.
One of my personal favorites is Mahogany Teakwood.
So, there you have it! My recommendations for great candles to fit your aesthetic and mood. What’s your favorite type of candle?
