So, I like free. I mean, who doesn’t? Even if it’s something useless, you’ll still like it because it is free. But if it’s something useful? Well, the possibilities are endless. I have a lot of free apps on my phone, but there’s one that I use on a regular basis and I swear up and down by it.
It’s for iPhones and Apple Watches (I apologize in advance to the Android users!): It’s Pedometer++.
I walk a lot. Like a whole lot. Like I often have to update my shoes because I walk so much. I once bragged about walking 25 miles a week and people thought I was insane for that. And for the naysayers who think I’m lying, I brought receipts:
See? I do walk. A lot. And that was just from last week!
I like Pedometer++ because I feel as long as I have either my phone or my watch on me, it can accurately track my steps. I tend to aim for something small like 5,500 steps (which is a little over 2 miles a day). If I have more serious goals, I try to do about 7,500 steps.
I like walking because it’s one of the most low-impact exercises one can do that won’t wreck havoc on your joints. Now, your feet, on the other hand, might need to have a bit more TLC (and I’ll recommend great foot care in a future post!). But walking is very relaxing; you can be outside enjoying the scenery and listening to a great podcast or music.
Pedometer++ is pretty accurate, plus they have monthly goals you can try to achieve based on your walking habits. You can even modify your own personal goals. I try to aim for at least 5500 steps a day; sometimes I hit the goal and sometimes I don’t. But it’s something feasible.
While I do have some days like above where there were close to or over 10,000 steps, even I have to admit that trying to achieve that every day can be rather taxing and stressful. And I don’t need that type of stress in my life.
I highly recommend Pedometer++ as something to kickstart your walking/steps goals or keep track of them. Plus, it’s FREE. And we all love FREE!
