Last week, my oldest brother got married in Las Vegas. Rather than taking yet another long road trip, we decided to use up the rest of Maks’s frequent flyer miles to fly. I also got to see Mariah Carey one more time, so I have to mention Mimi since she was a Valentine’s/anniversary gift:
We stayed at the very budget-friendly Red Roof Inn. It’s a hotel I recommend if you’re on a budget and it was very convenient next to a CVS. It was also a mile off the strip, so not really walking distance, but a cab or Lyft ride away.
It was also next to a strip club, but we didn’t see any naked titties so that was fine. But if you’re a bit on the conservative side, you probably want to skip.
Since the flight was only 45 minutes and our stay was only a weekend, we didn’t pack a lot of stuff. So I don’t have any major tips to share but I will give a few that helped us out:
- Always pack entertainment. Going to the airport and what have you, can be a long wait. Sometimes, kids need to be distracted. We packed both iPad and his Kindle. Yeah, might be overkill, but we wanted Bear to have options.
- Bear was always responsible for his luggage. It made him feel special and he loved that he was in charge of it.
- Get to the airport at least an hour or so early and wear comfortable shoes. Now Bear didn’t have to take off his shoes (I don’t know what the cutoff for children), but Maks and I had to. We also had to take out every piece of electronic out as well. When we forget to take out Bear’s kindle, they had to rescan his entire luggage. Annoying.
- You. Must. Take. A. Pic. Of. Your. Kid. With. The. Pilots. Seriously, it’s a must-have.
- Your child should have the window seat, if possible. They would love to see the airplane, the sky, and everything.
Other than that, it was a very successful trip. We hope to go on another airplane ride later this year! 🙂
