We did something different this year for Thanksgiving; we went to Vegas!

Maks got me a Mariah Carey floor ticket for my 40th birthday. We originally planned to leave Los Angeles around 11 AM, but heavy congestion (along with a 10-car pileup) on the I-15 prevented us from leaving. So, we left later that night and well, that was a disaster, too!

It snowed on our way to Vegas. A trip that normally took 3 1/2 hours, took a whopping 6! (Coming back home was actually worst – it 10 hours to get home!).

We stayed at the Circus Circus Hotel. I have fond memories of staying there as a child and so did Maks. Well, I can honestly say the Circus Circus hotel needs to be thrown away. The last time it was updated was probably when it was built back in 1968. The rooms are cheap for a reason. There was an indescribable cigarette smell we couldn’t quite place and the walls were paper thin.

There was an indoor amusement park (yeah, indoor…not sure wtf that was about) that had swap meet vibes. We didn’t stay there too long.

We’ll be back in Vegas in February but I can guarantee you that one, we’re flying and two, we will definitely not be staying at the Circus Circus.

Now, let’s get down to the important part of my trip: Mariah Carey.

I’ve been a fan of hers since forever and I’ve always wanted to see her. I finally got my wish and Maks bought me two-floor seats for her shows in November and the upcoming February.

I was there along with hundreds of other Lambs. Her show was sold-out! It was nice to be around other Mariah Carey fans and a few of them knew each other. I love that type of family!

I was sitting literally two feet from the stage and Mimi came to my section very often. I was able to capture awesome photos of her!

After we’d checked out of our hotel, we went literally across the street to Battlefield Vegas to check out the numerous tanks they had there. Eventually, we hope to go back and practice shooting at their gun range.

Bear had a lot of fun looking up all of the tanks:

After Vegas, as we were heading home, we stopped by one of the places I wanted to check out this year – The Seven Magic Mountains.

They’re pretty much seven big ol’ stacking, colorful rocks. But the imagery is so beautiful in the Nevada desert:

Overall, it was a great trip but definitely staying home next Thanksgiving. 🙂
