How I Created Class Valentine’s Packs for Under $30

I know this is a late post, however, I’m a big believer that this is news you can use!

Every year that Bear has been in school, be it preschool or elementary, I’ve made his Valentine’s packets. The first year with him being in preschool was rather simple – a candy and maybe a small card attached. I found out as time progressed, there are parents who do the whole shebang and actually create Valentine’s packets.

Yes, packets. Color me the hell shocked as well.

I try not to spend a lot of money for Bear’s class gifts just because there are so many kids (he has almost 30 kids in his class!). So, I have to be super mindful of how much money I spend per child and if it’s cost-efficient overall.

Now, I did it this way because Bear likes it when I’m a bit fancy with his classmate gifts. This isn’t a recommendation to anyone, but if you want to do something different for your child, here are some tips!

LFG!

Visit your local dollar store.

This is probably something you already know but it doesn’t hurt to check in. You’ll often find the same things you were planning to get at another store like Target, Walmart, and Michael’s to be considerably cheaper. And yes, it’s usually the same items!

Case in point – the candy bags and ties. Each cost a dollar. And I got a lot for the money! If you have extra, it’s not a bad thing. You can either donate, save for something else, or recycle!

Try to buy candy in bulk – the more in the bag, the better.

Again, Bear has almost 30 kids in his class so I didn’t have the option of picking and choosing candies. After all, my son was one of several kids passing out candy that day and you have to keep in mind, your child will be receiving a lot of candy. They really don’t care about how fancy it is. It’s all about if they like it.

I got this from Target for $6. Seriously. What. A. Steal! It guaranteed each classmate had at least one candy and there was leftover for Bear to pass to his other friends (and he did!).

Also, at Target – little treats!

Nowadays, kids like to have little treats or tokens in their gift bags. I like to do the erasers that are shaped like candy or food, but this time I opted for something more – a squishy heart and bubbles. Target has a deal where one bag is $3 and it contains quite a few. I picked up a bunch!

The total cost of the little gifts – $15.

The finished product!

Don’t they look great? Just simple and they were a hit for Bear’s friends!

And all of this was under $30!!!! What a steal!!!

What did you do for Valentine’s Day?
