I’m going to keep it one hundred – I haven’t purchased store bought spaghetti sauce in well over three years. Once I figured out (by accident), I could make the same sauce without the junk and crap that goes into preserving a store-bought one, I was sold.
Now, I’m going to share that recipe with you.
This sauce can be made with or without meat. Bear prefers his spaghetti sauce without meat while Make prefers it with meat.
The only difference in preparing this sauce with the meat is that you would need two cans of tomato sauce, while the one without will only require one.
If you’re going to use fresh tomatoes (and I strongly encourage you do if time permits), You’ll need about four.
I don’t like long food posts and I’m not sure if you do, neither, so let’s just get down to it:
1 pound ground beef (optional)
2 cans of tomato sauce – 8 oz each.
1 can of tomato paste
I can of diced tomatoes
1 onion – chopped
2 garlic cloves – minced
1/2 cup of water
Cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta
Basil
Oregano
Pepper
Salt (sea salt or seasoned, your preference)
Directions:
- Cook beef until done, then drain. Season it (yes, people -season your damn food) with salt and pepper.
- Add the cans of tomato sauce, tomato paste, and the other ingredients in a skillet or pot. Cook it for twenty minutes and then turn it on low.
Let me know how it turns out! 🙂
